A 10 Year Olds Top Ten Attractions
As adults who painstakingly try to plan each and every detail of a fabulous Walt Disney World vacation trying to figure out what your child/ren would like to do, especially for those that have never been, can prove to be quite a challenge. We've decided to go right to the source and ask a 10 year old herself, who has been to WDW over 8 times, to list her top ten and what makes them so "magical".
A Special Thanks to Courtney for Providing This Info
10. Carousel of Progress -- This ride is a trip through the ages. It made it onto my list because even though it is not fast or scary, I still like the sweet melody of it. Every time I ride, I come off with a smile. When you walk in, you will can seat yourself within a compartment. The seats move, not the stage. In a slow moving way, you will follow a family's daily life, from past to present to future. The characters will tell you what is going on, during each time period. So give it a shot. It's located in the Magic Kingdom.
"Quick Tip" The Carousel of Progress is open seasonally, so it may not be open during the slower times of the year.
9. Kilimanjaro Safaris -- Get ready for an animal adventure! This is an actual safari where there are real animals. There are over 25 different animals, and you will definitely encounter a few. Have your cameras ready, because you'll want to have a souvenir of this. In addition, you will go on an adventure to save a baby elephant and her mother, Little Red and Big Red. Can you take on the poachers? It's located in Animal Kingdom.
"Quick Tip" I especially enjoy this ride on sunnier days.
8. Spaceship Earth -- This is a unique ride in many ways. When you go to Disney World you have to ride it at least once. It takes you out of this world, and studies the way people communicated in the past. There are many new and old things on this ride. There is old technology and stuff that we haven't even seen before. It's a slow moving ride, and sometimes moves backwards. It's located in Epcot.
"Quick Tip" Even if the line is long, it moves fast so don't let the length of the line scare you.
7. Test Track -- The fastest ride in Disney World, it's a great ride for the car lover in the family. It takes you through a series of tests, that cars would go through. First a series of duration testing, then the rim. When reaching maximum speed, hold onto your hats, because it's that fast. It's located in Epcot.
"Quick Tip" You should get a Fastpass for this ride, it's usually crowded.
6. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror -- Most of us know the story of the elevator breaking down, and people falling to their doom. We now you can live it! First you watch the story of doom on a tape when you enter a small library, in the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Then you get to go into the boiler room of the hotel, and get into the freight elevator, and up you go. You will then go through a series of drops that lift you out of your seat. Located in Disney's Hollywood Studios.
"Quick Tip" This would also be a good ride to get a Fastpass for.
5. Kali River Rapids -- This is a ride you are sure to get wet on! You will be escorted into a raft. Then you will go through a series of drops and even some waterfalls. Then, there's a BIG drop. On the big drop, if your position in the raft, is one that makes you go down backwards, let's just say... hopefully you will have brought a change of clothes. Located in Disney's Animal Kingdom.
"Quick Tip" Sunny and warm days are the best for this ride.
4. Space Mountain -- This ride is designed to look just like space inside, and it does! You will get into your seat, six people per car, and off you go. You will experience a series of drops in the dark. All you will be able to see are the stars on the walls, and the other cars - glowing. It's located in the Magic Kingdom.
"Quick Tip" When getting into the queue, the left lane is the faster lane.
3. Rock 'n Roller Coaster -- This is the fastest moving roller coaster in Disney. It's goes through loops, corkscrews and all sorts of turns and drops. When you first walk into the queue, you will see a short movie by Aerosmith. You will then move into a back "alley". When you get into your seat, be sure to smile for the camera! The music throughout the ride is all performed by Aerosmith. It's located in Disney's Hollywood Studios.
"Quick Tip" This is also another good ride to utilize Fastpass.
2. Mission: Space -- On this ride, you will experience what feels like, an actual rocket launch. You will be commanded into one of four positions. Those positions would be Commander; Pilot; Engineer; or Navigator. Your mission is to simply land on Mars. Good luck on the mission! It's located in Epcot.
"Quick Tip" To prevent motion sickness, keep your eyes open and look straight ahead throughout the ride.
1. Splash Mountain -- This is my favorite ride in all of Disney World. It is a thrill ride, and you will also get wet, though probably not soaked. Nothing beats it. When you walk in, you will see your "log" and you hop in. It takes you around Brier Rabbits home. You will try and help him find his "Laughing Place". Then the drop comes, down the mountain, into the water. It's located in Magic Kingdom.
"Quick Tip" This is another ride that's good to use Fastpass on.
