Annual Passholder Program

So, you are going to Walt Disney World and are wondering what all these people are talking about when they say "AP", "AP discounts", "AP benefits", and "AP vouchers"? This page is meant to help you figure all that out, and to aid you in deciding if the purchase of a Walt Disney World Annual Passport is the best option for you.

Let’s start by explaining the types of Annual Passports that Disney offers. There is the Annual Passport, Premium Annual Passport, and the Florida Resident Annual Passport. The Florida Resident Annual Passport, as its name implies, is available to Florida residents only. The other two can be purchased by any Disney theme park guest. We will then explain the prices, "voucher" system, and all the benefits available to you.

Annual Passport (AP) -- This passport gives the bearer unlimited admission to the 4 Walt Disney World theme parks - Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom - for 365 days, from the date of voucher redemption. You may enter and leave the parks, and "park hop" as many times as you wish, and there are no black-out dates. Example: If you redeem your voucher on March 2, 2009, it will be good through March 2, 2010.

Premium Annual Passport (PAP) -- This passport offers you the same privileges as the Annual Passport, but it also includes - DisneyQuest, the 2 water parks -- Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, Disney’s Wide World of Sports (valid only on event days), and Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course.

Florida Resident Annual Passport -- These passes offer the benefits of the Annual Passport Program, but at a reduced price, and other special Florida Resident Discounts only. Please Note:

Where can I buy Annual Passports or Premium Annual Passports?
When pre-purchasing an Annual or Premium Annual Passport (AP/PAP) at any one of the following locations you will be sent/given a "voucher". The voucher can be exchanged at any Walt Disney World ticket or Guest Relations window for the actual pass or at the Guest Relations offices at Downtown Disney. At that time you will be given a sleeve to carry your pass with all of the benefits for that year.

You can also purchase activated (no exchanging required) Annual or Premium Annual Passports at any Walt Disney World major park ticket window OR Guest Relations at the major parks OR at the West Side Guest Relations office at Downtown Disney.

Please note that Annual or Premium Annual Passports cannot be purchased at Walt Disney World resorts.

What is the Annual Passport voucher?
When you purchase your Annual Passport, you will receive a "voucher" which looks very much like a park ticket. When you get to Walt Disney World you need to activate the voucher at any of the theme parks or Downtown Disney. This can be done at a Guest Relations ticket counter at the entrance to the park. Please note, you cannot activate this voucher at your Disney Resort hotel. Once you activate it, it is good for the next 365 days. So, do not activate it until you are ready to enter the park!

How do I enter the park with this ticket?
Quite simple, it is the same entrance as other theme park ticket holders. For children, they will put their ticket in the turnstile and walk through the gates. For adults, you will be asked to use the "finger scanner" as well as put your ticket in the turnstile. Be sure to have an ID with you in case your "finger scan" does not work.

Are there any discounts to purchase the Annual Passport?
At current discounts are offered to DVC members, Cast Members, and Florida residents.

What if I want to renew this ticket, after it expires?
Easy, you can renew your ticket without a problem. Disney will usually send you paperwork to do this. Remember however, if you originally activated your ticket on May 1, it will ALWAYS renew on that day. Example: You purchase your AP on March 1, 2009, you activate it on May 1, 2009. It is good until May 1, 2010. If you want to renew it, it will renew from May 1, 2010 to May 1, 2011, no matter what day you actually go to the parks. Confusing? It is, but if you have questions, ask the folks over at the Planning the Magic by Land and Sea Forum.

Can I upgrade from a Annual Pass to a Premium Annual Pass?
Yes, but you must pay the price difference to do so. You cannot downgrade however, from a Premium Annual Pass to a Regular Annual Pass.

Does the Annual Pass include "Special Events"?
Special events, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, are not included in your Annual Pass admission. Special events are separate "hard ticket" events and you must purchase a separate pass to attend these.

Florida Seasonal Pass Entitlements:
