Planning Your Walt Disney World Vacation

Our first trip to Walt Disney World in 1982 was spur of the moment and absolutely no pre-planning at all. Fortunately everything worked out okay for us, despite the rush we had a fantastic time. But, if it can be avoided that's not quite the way it should be done. Plan in advance as much as possible, as far in advance as possible. We have been going to Walt Disney World every year since that first trip. Yet we find ourselves still buying new magazines and books about Disney whenever we can. We like to keep ourselves updated on any new changes there might be. Because there are always new changes!

Some questions to consider before you start planning:

When Should We Go?
Most people like to plan when the crowds are at a minimum and the weather is the most ideal. Unfortunately that's not an option for everyone. So the first step is deciding when you can go. Do you plan around a school vacation? Or maybe a special event happening at Walt Disney World?

Where Should We Stay?
If you'd like to stay on Disney property it is not unrealistic to begin planning your visit as much as a year or two in advance. We usually begin planning for our next trip the day we return from our last trip.

How Do We Get There?
Next, you should decide your best means of transportation to get there. Do you fly to save time? Or do you catch a train, get on a bus, or pack up the car and hit the road?

How Can We Save Money?
A trip to Walt Disney World will be expensive. Your major costs are going to be transportation, lodging, food, and theme park tickets. But, with a little work, and the proper planning, you can save a great deal of money.

What's Next? More Things to Consider!
Once you've set a date and have your plans in motion it's time to start the real fun!

Educate yourself as much as you can before going to Walt Disney World - talk to people that have been there before, read books and magazines, surf the web. The more you familiarize yourself before you go the easier it will be for you when you get there.
