Disney's Walk Around the World
The Walt Disney World Resort holds a special place in the hearts and memories of guests from all over the world. Disney's Walk Around the World, an inspiring walkway along the banks of the Seven Seas Lagoon, is constructed of commemorative bricks that are sponsored by Disney fans worldwide. Each hexagonal brick is 10" wide and may contain the guests' name, hometown and state. Some are personalized with the date of the guests' visit or any other special occasion, such as a wedding, birthday or anniversary. These bricks are a memory in stone of a most treasured event. The idea of sponsoring a brick and becoming part of Disney history was appealing to most.
During our August 1995 vacation at Walt Disney World we bought a brick to celebrate the birth of our first grandchild, Tamlin. We were given a certificate and told the brick would be placed within three months. We didn't return to Disney until October 1996. Of course, the first thing we did when we arrived was locate Tamlin's brick! I was so excited I even cried. His brick is on the Contemporary Walkway, across from the Disney Bus Stop. We make it a point to visit "our piece of the world" with each visit to WDW. And yes, even now I still shed tears when I see it.
The Walt Disney World walkway was completed in July of 2000 so bricks are no longer available for sale.
