Storytime with Belle in the Fairytale Garden

Location: Fantasyland

One of the most pleasant and intimate character experiences is Storytime with Belle in the Fairytale Garden. Taking place in the Magic Kingdom, and nestled alongside Cinderella’s Castle on the side facing Tomorrowland, is the enchanting Fairytale Garden. Amidst the trees and stone benches one of the most beloved Princesses of all, the gracious Belle, shares her love of books with all who attend.

This tiny garden houses just a few seating areas, and a small but lovely depiction of the outside of Belle’s castle, with a small stage set up. Arguably the most interactive of all children’s shows at Disney. The wee-ones in the audience, during this 20-minute presentation, get the chance to bring Belle’s most favorite story to life, as actors, on stage.

The show opens with the introduction of Belle in her blue/white dress. She explains just how deep her love of reading books is and asks her audience helpers (who are chosen just prior to the beginning of the show) to come up on stage to act out one of her most favorite stories. As Belle’s assistants help the children change into their costumes the adventure begins. The story she has chosen is a very familiar one about a girl who meets and falls in love with a Beast, who by no coincidence, is really a prince in disguise. Young audience members get to dress up as some well-known enchanting objects, specifically a candelabra (Lumiere), a clock (Cogsworth), a teacup (Chip), and a teapot (Mrs. Potts). In addition, some tiny Gaston's and Maurice's also get to take part in the act. One parent is also chosen to play the ever heroic, though sometimes timid, Beast.

The show is extremely entertaining and a must for any Beauty and the Beast fan. Be sure to take your cameras in case your child is chosen to take part in the act. After the show children are then allowed to line up for a photograph and autograph session with the Princess, so be sure to bring your autograph gear also.

Please keep in mind that there is not a lot of shade in this area, and on hot, sunny days it can get unbearable. In addition, although this show is not overly crowded, there is not a lot of seating, so try and arrive early. For specific showtimes, as this is not a continually running show throughout the day, please check your park guidemap.
