it's a small world
Location: Fantasyland
Smoothly sailing amidst children of all nations, singing in languages from around the world and colorfully attired in traditional dress, is one of the Magic Kingdom park's all time favorite attractions, it's a small world. During this magical 10-minute indoor boat ride through a musical tour of nations, diversity is the theme and similarity is the lesson as the infectious medley is sung over and over and over again.
Located in Fantasyland, this Magic Kingdom original was created as a UNICEF exhibit for the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. It is considered Walt Disney's salute to children all over the world. As you board your boat to take your excursion 'round the World, and slowly glide forward into huge rooms which house each country, you begin to hear the tune that may very well stick in your head for the rest of your stay.
Suddenly, you are transported into different nations of the world, from Mexico to Germany, and many countries in between. Numerous nations are well represented here by a large cast of animatronic dancers, singers, soldiers, and even animals. Without missing a beat, together they sing in unison, perhaps the most famous of all Disney attraction songs... It's a world of laughter, a world of tears; It's a world of hopes and a world of fears. There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware, It's A Small World After all... One of the most charming parts of the whole attraction, however, is near the very end where you will notice "Good-bye" written in several different languages. See how many languages you can pick out!
Though this is a very popular ride, many recommend this should be the first ride you take at Disney, it loads quite quickly and continuously. So don't be scared away by a long line, you'll be aboard before you know it. Try and get a spot on the outside seat of the boat for the best view, as 4 people can fit comfortably across in these. This is also an excellent ride for small children. And bring your pennies Moms and Dads, because your wee-ones will certainly want to toss some in the water along the way.
