Haunted Mansion

This Article Was Contributed by Eric

Location: Liberty Square

Goblins and Ghoulies from last Halloween are just a few of the many not-so-scary spooks that one may encounter in Walt Disney World's Haunted Mansion, located in Liberty Square of Walt Disney World's infamous Magic Kingdom. When the park opened in 1971 The Haunted Mansion was one of the first attractions part of the theme park. Since then everyone knows when the crypt doors creek and the tomb stones quake, spooks come round for a swinging wake! After entering Liberty Square the Haunted Mansion is a hard one to miss, especially from the howling sounds and creepy haunting music.

As you walk into the gates you may have to wait in line for a substantial amount of time, for the ride is still more popular than ever, and "people are just dying to get in"! Everyone likes to be scared, and just the thought of a Haunted Mansion can spark anyone's interest. The Haunted Mansion is an attraction that may be too graphic for young children, so parental discretion is advised, yet it still lacks the effort of being terrifying. The Mansion itself possesses its own story-line of a young couple on their wedding day, when a game of hide and seek goes terribly array. The bride decides to hide in a trunk in the attic of the Mansion when the trunk closes, locking her inside, not to be discovered until it is too late.

After entering the attraction you walk into a room with no doors and no windows and you're told to step into the dead center of the room. Once there you are subjected to your friendly ghost host who starts you off with the ever-popular stretching room. Is this room actually stretching? From there you are escorted to the loading line where upon boarding your doom buggy you are told not to pull down on the safety bars, your host will lower it for you. While starting off on the ride you're told the rules so that you can see the ghosts materialize. There is no flash photography for the ghosts are sensitive to bright lights!

After going through the introduction you are then able to view the weirdness that is The Haunted Mansion. You go down long corridors, enter the library and, even get to attend a swinging wake! Then onto Madam Leota where she summons the ghost from the great beyond... soon you enter the graveyard where you get to become acquainted with "The Grim Grinning Ghosts" and many other ghoulish spooksters. Soon before exiting the ride you even get to meet a Hitch Hiking Ghost who will follow you home. "Hurry Back... hurry back... don't forget to bring your death certificate."... this just is one of the things you may hear upon leaving the Haunted Mansion, while also being reinstated with your Ghost Host! There are 999 Happy Haunts that reside here, yet there is always room for a 1000, any volunteers?

Shortly there after the ride comes to an end and you walk out and get to see all the wives that the "Mansion" owner acquired while still in his mortal state. Then from the howling you leave the gates and think to yourself, "should I return to the Haunted Mansion?" The answer almost every time should be a definite, yes! Walt Disney's World's Haunted Mansion is one of the best attractions that one may encounter! So, if you haven't already tried it, go and check it out!
