The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
Location: Adventureland
Have you ever felt like flying through the air on a magic carpet, but never knew a genie that could take you? Well, then you are in luck! Because a brand new ride in Magic Kingdom Park’s Adventureland, the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, opened in early summer of 2001. In classic Disney style, this new attraction is filled with the whimsical wonder of genies, flying carpets, and magic lamps. This is the first ever permanent attraction themed around everyone’s favorite, "Disney Hero of the Middle East", Aladdin. Adjacent to the ride you will also find the Agrabah Bazaar and Zanzibar Trading Co., a wonderful marketplace to spend some of your souvenir dollars!
Located in Adventureland, across from Swiss Family Treehouse and beside "The Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management", the ride itself is of the hub and spoke design. It features 16, 4-passenger vehicles, configured to look like magic carpets. In the center of the hub is a giant animated Genie lamp. Each individual vehicle is rider-controlled, meaning you're at command of your carpet to make it go up, down, or pitch forward or backward. As you enjoy the ride, don’t forget to be on the lookout for the water spitting camels, which take their aim at unsuspecting riders. At the centerpiece of the ride, the magical Genie lamp is adorned with characters from "Aladdin," Disney’s 1992 animated classic. Music from the movie plays throughout your entire ride, adding to the atmosphere.
The Agrabah Bazaar merchandise area is a stall-filled, Middle Eastern, open-air marketplace bustling with merchants peddling colorful wares. Across its 1,500 square feet will be everything from vases to brass, spices to clothing.
