Test Track

This Article Was Contributed by Eric

"Zoooooom! Zoooooom! Zooooooom!" That is the sound one can hear while waiting in the usually enormous line for one of Disney's fastest rides located at Epcot, called "Test Track". In December of 1998 Disney opened this ride to the public, and it has been a hit among young and old, and sometimes not so old, ever since. After one survives the long line of outside twists and turns, one walks to the highly awaited opening of the building where the Height Restriction measurement stand is positioned. Kids can see if they are tall enough to proceed; if so everyone goes into what seems to be a busy workshop full of automotive parts and TV analysts, which describe how cars and their counterparts work properly.

From air bags to engines, one can develop one's mind with the jumble of information one acquires just while waiting in line. Examples and tests on crash test dummies are performed right before viewers' eyes, just so one can get the whole effect of the genre!

"This is really educational! This ride might actually make people aware of how cars function!", explained Jimmy S., of Dalton, Georgia. After the wait one can finally experience the ride... so you think! The Disney cast member asks about 15 to 20 people onto the above platform where one is asked to stand in front of "Door #1" or "Door #2". This is also where single line members have their chance to board the ride.

"The Single was so cool! You can go by everyone who has been waiting in line forever!", decided Jon, one of Magictrips' regulars. The Single Line is a way for people who do not wish to wait in line. If one goes to the singles line you will ride alone, without your group. The line is merely to fill up any spaces so that the line can go by quicker and more efficiently!

After your respective door opens you enter and watch a short video of what you will see and experience while on the "Test Track". While watching the video one starts to think... is this a real test facility? In fact it is not. Yet it is more fun to pretend. After the video, everyone will continue onto through the doors to their right and move down the corridor until they reach the loading lines. This is where you load into your designated cars.

Each car holds 6 occupants. After you get into your car and tighten your seatbelt... firmly... you take off into a series of tests... cold, hot, off road, slick conditions and a brake test. Then, after the break test, you go outside and test to see how fast your car can go. One young patron to the ride named, Alli G. of Dalton, Georgia stated, "I loved the fast parts!" Many feel that it is a great ride and really exciting. Inside one never knows what is coming, creating a sense of suspense while making the ride even better.

But, why just sit and read about it when you can go and experience it for yourself. It is a definite must do!
