Disney Dining Plan (DDP)

What is the Disney Dining Plan? This was supplied from a fellow Disney visitor who experienced the DDP and so it draws verbatim from some verbiage from the Walt Disney Company.

  • It is part of the Magic Your Way package and cannot be purchased separately.
  • It allows a daily ration of 1 x quick-service meal, 1 x snack and 1 x table-service meal.
  • There are a set number of meals based on the number in your party and the number of nights stayed.
  • The meals can be enjoyed any time and do not have to be eaten in any pattern. They are literally just checked off as they are consumed.
  • Two table-service meals may be used together at one high end meal or a dinner show.
  • It is charged per night stayed (which means that, yet again, you are being charged for stuff that you possibly cannot take enjoyment of).
  • Explanation: In that you can only start taking advantage of meals when you actually arrive on property although you are actually paying for them by arriving on that day and for the day on which you depart. The only folks that can take advantage almost fully are those who arrive early and depart late by road but, theoretically, they cannot enjoy meals early on the day of arrival since they cannot check into their hotel and receive their "Key to the World" card which is their room key. It is noted that Disney states "the duration of the Magic Your Way ticket must equal the number of nights of your stay, plus one day" and that obviously applies to the Dining Package selected with that Magic Your Way package.
  • The Disney Premium Dining Plan (through MYW Premium Package) simply states breakfast, lunch and dinner per person per night so it is assumed that you can eat what you want where you want as long as the restaurant is in the DDP.
  • All plans simply cover the cost of the meal, taxes and gratuities. Reservations are still required and you have to make those separately.
  • This has just been extended to Annual Pass holders so that they can add the DDP to their vacation. Previously, they did not have MYW tickets being AP holders, it was unavailable to them.
