About Us

Before we begin let us introduce ourselves. We're Paul and Ada Raymond, the founders, webmasters and administrators of the Raynett and Magictrips domains, Paul being primary of Raynett and me (Ada) being primary of Magictrips. We started our online journey early in 1995, soon after the first release of Windows 95, with a Packard Bell 486 computer and a very, very slow internet connection. There was little information on the internet at the time and what was there seemed to be hard to find. Paul knew from the get-go that he wanted to build a website of his own, and I seemed to have no interest in doing that at all. With help from the now extinct Prodigy Bulletin Boards he quickly learned the lingo and taught himself to hand code. This led to the publication of his HTML Help Tutorial and a new home at Geocities. This seemed to be a satisfactory arrangement until we later decided to register our own domain names.

I didn't catch the internet fever until much later. After seeing how much fun Paul seemed to be having building his website I decided I'd like to build a website of my own too. It's a good thing he is such a patient man because I was not as quick at learning to hand code as he was. It took me several months of hair pulling, and having him watch over my shoulder, before I felt comfortable enough to build even a single webpage on my own.

There was never a question about what type of webpage I wanted to make, it had to be Disney related in some way. We have been lucky enough to have vacationed over much of the United States and Canada, but it was a spur of the moment trip to Walt Disney World in April 1982 that was the beginning of a love like no other for us. When it's time to talk vacations it's never where will we go, but instead when will we go. Fortunately, our daughter, son-in-law, and all three grandkids have inherited our love for Disney too. Tamlin, our only grandchild at the time, was fascinated with the newly released movie Toy Story. So my beginning started with a Toy Story page created for him. The sole purpose of the page was to hear him laugh when he saw Buzz and Woody on the computer. Before I knew what was happening that one page turned into another and another and another. The rest is history, what started as a hobby soon became an everyday part of my life.

A Whole New World of Disney (as it was called before Magictrips.com) was first published on the web on April 28, 1997. Things have changed a lot over the years, and so have we and our thoughts and dreams. I'm hoping that this website will continue to grow into something that will last and reflect the essence of all who have been here and all who are yet to come. This website was created for our family, friends, and you with LOTS of love!
